The service
Walking tours of the city and countryside of Cartagena, excursions and other tourism and leisure experiences, under the legal framework of Spanish Law 17/2009 of 23 November (free access to service activities), Law 20/2013 of 9 December (market unity) and Law 12/2013 of 20 December on Tourism in the Region of Murcia. They are run by the owner of Cartagena Escape, Julio Francisco Valles Martínez, or by another person he authorises who also meets those requirements.
Booking process
Guided tours are booked through the forms or contact channels on the website. Once you send your request, you will receive the booking confirmation by email with the details of the visit (meeting point, start time and instructions).
Prices
All prices on the website are in euros (€) and include applicable taxes (VAT or other levies). They are shown per person; each tour page lists its general price (from age 13), the reduced rate for children aged 3 to 12 and, where there is one, the price of the optional extension. Children under 3 go free and do not count towards the total number of participants. You see the total before sending your request.
How to book
- Choose the tour, the date and the number of seats, and whether you want the extension.
- Enter your contact details and choose how to pay.
- Before sending, you see a summary of everything and the total amount. From there, or with the «Back» button, you can correct any detail.
- By sending the request you accept these terms, and you receive an email with your reference and the next step (accepting cash payment, or paying).
- Once you accept cash payment, or your payment has been checked, you receive the confirmation by email.
Every booking is recorded and you can view or cancel it at any time from the link in your emails, which serve as your receipt. Bookings can be made in Spanish or English.
Booking and payment
A booking is a request for seats: nothing is paid on the website. When you send it you choose how to pay and the seats are held for you. If you choose cash, you receive an email to accept that you will pay the amount in euros at the meeting point before the tour starts; once you accept, the booking is confirmed. If you choose Bizum, PayPal or Revolut, the email includes the details to pay, with your reference as the payment description, within 24 hours; once the payment has been checked, your seat is confirmed by email with the booking code, the amount including taxes and the meeting point. If the deadline passes without acceptance or payment, the request expires and the seats are released. If you would like an invoice, send your tax details to hola@cartagenaescape.es.
Admission tickets
Tickets to museums, archaeological sites and other places of interest are handled by Cartagena Escape, as a partner client of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, at the same public price. Cancellation policies and admission rights for those venues are those of the Cartagena Puerto de Culturas consortium.
Cancellation
You can cancel from the link in your booking email, or by letting us know by email or phone. If you paid in advance, you get a full refund if you cancel up to 48 hours before the tour and half if you cancel up to 24 hours before; with less than 24 hours’ notice there is no refund. Refunds are made through the same payment method. Bookings paid in cash can be cancelled free of charge. If the tour cannot go ahead for reasons beyond the group’s control (weather warning, force majeure), you will be offered a new date or a full refund.
Right of withdrawal
As these are leisure activities on a set date, the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases does not apply (art. 103.l of the Spanish Consumer Protection Act, TRLGDCU). We state this here expressly.
During the tour
- The tours go along streets open to traffic, slopes and steps. Comfortable shoes, water and sun protection are recommended. If anyone in the group has reduced mobility or needs anything special, please tell us when booking so we can adapt the route as far as possible. Participants are responsible for wearing suitable footwear and clothing for the activity and for following the guide’s instructions throughout the tour.
- Minors always take part accompanied by, and under the responsibility of, an adult in the group.
- Please follow the guide’s instructions, especially when crossing streets and on uneven ground. The guide may ask anyone who puts their own safety or that of others at risk, or prevents the tour from running normally, to leave the group; in that case there is no refund.
- Each participant looks after their own belongings during the tour.
- Opening hours of museums, monuments and venues not run by Cartagena Escape depend on their owners. If one is closed that day, the guide adapts the route to keep its length and content.
None of the above limits the liability that the provider has under the law.
Complaints
Any issue can be reported to hola@cartagenaescape.es or +34 685 556 086; we reply as soon as possible and within one month at the latest. Official complaint forms of the Region of Murcia are also available to you: on paper, by asking the guide on the day of the tour, and on the Region of Murcia Consumer Portal (in Spanish).
